Judge Charles P. Holdeman

Charles Holdeman was native and lifelong resident of Winchester. He graduated from Winchester High School in 1931 and was an Army sergeant in World War II. He was a federally- licensed grain inspector beginning his career in 1937 with Goodrich Elevators. In 1964 he was elected Winchester City Court judge, a position he held for 24 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. He was also a 52-year member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge 56, and belonged to Union City Elks Lodge 1334, American Legion Post 39, and the Indiana City and Town Court Judges Association. This scholarship is awarded to a boy or girl graduate of Winchester Community High School who is selected based on academic achievement, leadership, ability, and probable success in his/her field. Preference is given to applicants who want to continue their education in the field of law, who plan to attend Indiana University, and/or who have an interest in the game of golf. The recipient must also graduate in the upper one-fourth of his/her class.
