The scholarship honors Ira Davisson (born February 1894) and Olive M. (Pursley) Davisson (born 1897). Ira, son of Samuel S. and Ida M. Davisson, married Olive, daughter of Frank E. and Margaret Luella Jackson, on June 2, 1915. Ira passed away on March 15, 1968, at the age of 74. Both Ira and Olive are buried in Maxville Cemetery, with Olive passing away in 1979.
Olive was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, born in Washington Township and later moving to Winchester, Indiana. She was an active member of her community, joining the Winchester Friends Church in 1962 (when Martindale Friends was laid down), and participating in the Neighborly Home Economics Club, Sunshine Club, and American Legion Auxiliary.
This scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from Winchester Community High School and Union High School.
