Community Foundation Opens Application For Local Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Randolph County is pleased to announce the availability of more than 70 scholarships to high school students for the 2021-2022 school year. Students who attend Monroe Central, Randolph Southern, Union, Randolph Eastern (Union City), Randolph Central (Winchester), and students from New Castle and Mississinawa High Schools are eligible to apply.

Program Officer Luke Rowles said, “Last year we launched our new online scholarship application to create a more streamlined process. Since then, we have taken feedback from both students and guidance counselors, and we are working with our vendor to make it even better.”

The vendor administering the online application process is International Scholarship and Tuition Services (ISTS). ISTS has been working with clients for over 40 years to standardize their scholarship applications, enabling students to complete one form that would allow them to qualify for multiple scholarships.

Interested students should visit www.randolphcountyfoundation.org/scholarships to review scholarship criteria and apply. All scholarships for the Community Foundation of Randolph County must be submitted online via the application website. “The application opens on November 15 and closes on January 7,” Rowles said.

Guidance counselors will also provide graduating seniors with a link to the application site. Some of the scholarships are based on financial need, while others have more specific award criteria. “Based on the information a student provides,” said Rowles, “the application will know exactly what scholarships for which they qualify.” Every senior is encouraged to complete an application form. Scholarships range from one-time scholarships of $500 to renewable four-year scholarships totaling $20,000.

Randolph County is fortunate that many donors have established funds with the Community Foundation for the purpose of helping high school seniors realize their hopes of higher education. Many scholarships can be used at two-year institutions, as well as traditional four-year colleges and universities.

Scholarship recipients will be announced at their respective high school senior recognition events.
